💡Aha! Moment

“Wait… That’s a Thing?”

I hear this every week:

“I had no idea hotel sourcing was even a service.”
“You can help with that?”
“I wish I knew you existed six months ago.”

At first, I thought it was a messaging issue.
Then I realized—it’s a visibility issue.

Here’s the truth: People don’t know what you do until you show them. And they won’t think of you unless they see you—consistently.

That doesn’t mean you need to post every day or start a podcast.
But it does mean showing up:

✅ On LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social platforms
✅ In networking groups
✅ Through virtual coffees (or in my case, virtual Diet Cokes)
✅ By sharing stories, not just your title
✅ By reminding people how you help—and why it matters

In my world, I help clients save hours, avoid contract headaches, and book better hotels for events and offsites.

But for a long time, I assumed people already knew that.

They didn’t.

Now, I recently started posting every Friday about the hotels I’ve booked for clients. Just a quick snapshot to show what I do, who I help, and how I support teams behind the scenes.

And it’s working.

It’s led to new conversations, new leads, and moments like this:

“You’ve made this entire process so easy for our team. I can’t think of anything that would’ve made it smoother.”

That result didn’t come from a pitch. It came from showing up, sharing value, and reminding people that hotel sourcing is a thing—and that I can help.

Here’s the aha:

You can’t get referrals if no one remembers what you actually do. You have to make your work visible—even when it feels obvious to you.

Because what’s clear in your mind is probably not clear in theirs.

Don’t assume people know. Show them.

Not with a hard sell. With a story. With a challenge you solved. With a result that mattered. With something that helps them connect the dots between their needs and your expertise.

If you’ve been wondering why referrals aren’t flowing or prospects aren’t reaching out, ask yourself:

When’s the last time you reminded people what you actually do—and how you help?

Because you might be exactly what they need. They just don’t know it yet.

💬 If you have events to plan and want help finding the right venue—without all the back-and-forth—let's talk today. I’d love to help make it easy.

One Thing to Know

🏨 Event Essentials - Breaks can be energizing, not just a pause. A few minutes of thoughtful design—like offering a wellness corner, a conversation card at coffee stations, or soft music in a quiet lounge—can help people recharge or connect more meaningfully. These micro-moments often have an outsized impact on how the event feels.

Tp: When planning your agenda, ask:

  • “What will people actually do during this break—and how can we help that feel intentional?”

Don’t just schedule a 15-minute break, design the experience within it.

🏰 a_far_off_place by Katy Lampe - Who doesn’t love a weekend getaway?! Now the Disney Wish has 3- and 4-night sailings to let you get away without using all your vacation time! Take a look at a recent blog post on the perks of these sailings!

🏫 Learned - Lead Generation Needs to Stay on the Radar

No matter how many years you’ve been in business, lead generation still matters. I was reminded that visibility and consistency fuel opportunity and it doesn’t need to be complicated. Show up, follow up, and have a system. Momentum doesn’t happen by accident.

✔️ Accomplished - My First Visit to Branson (Finally!) As someone who grew up in the Midwest, I can’t believe I’m saying this—but last week was my first time in Branson! And I was blown away. The Branson Convention & Visitor Bureau and the Hiltons of Branson hosted the Mid-Central HelmsBriscoe team, and they did an outstanding job.

It was so good to spend real time with the team—sharing wins, learning from each other, and exploring a destination that truly surprised me in the best way. Branson is more than music shows and family vacations—it’s a solid event destination with great hospitality and venues. I’d absolutely recommend considering it for your next corporate event.

❓A Question Worth Asking

Every week, I’ll leave you with one question—something I’m asking myself or my clients. Take it into your next team meeting, journaling session, or just a quiet moment.

🟡 When’s the last time you reminded people what you actually do—and how you help?
